Steps needed to run CARA® on newer versions of windows like Vista?
Step 1 It's best to install CARA in a root folder like C:\CARA22P
Step 2 For a default user the UAC (User Account Control) prevents write access to the installation folder, thus you need to alter this to permit write access.
  • Right click on the installation folder in the explorer window
  • in the context menu choose Properties
  • switch to the tab Security
  • and than click on Edit
  • acknowledge the following User Account Control dialog with Yes
  • In the Permissions dialog choose the default user e.g. (Benutzer)
  • than check Full control: Allow
  • and click on Apply
Step 3 Now you should download these patches, and inflate CARACAD.ZIP to CARACAD.EXE. Copy the result and ETS3DGL.DLL to the installation folder by overwriting the existing files.
Step 4 Eventually you also need the older windows help program (WinHlp32.exe) which is no longer a default part of a windows installation.
